Day 02 - Sun: Boston - The Berkshires (Springfield, MA) Start your day exploring the history of Boston on foot, along the Freedom Trail, one of America's most famous footpaths. Lunch in one of Boston's many restaurants, then enjoy some leisure time on your own, perhaps to browse in the shops of Quincy Market. Day 03 - Mon: The Berkshires - Green Mountains - Rutland After a morning stop in Bennington, travel through the dense hardwood forests of Vermont's Green Mountains. Visit the Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site where you have the opportunity to taste locally produced cheeses at a superbly restored New England historic site. Continue to Woodstock, the New England village that has been called 'the prettiest small town in America', replete with white church steeples and covered bridges. Day 04 - Tue: Rutland - Green Mountains - Lake Champlain (Burlington) Journey today through the elegant little villages that dot the valleys surrounded by the soaring peaks of the Green Mountains. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Texas Falls, then indulge your sweet tooth during an afternoon tour of Ben & Jerry's homemade ice cream factory. Continue to Lake Champlain, where you may take an optional evening dinner cruise on the lake. Hotel: Holiday Inn Lake Champlain
Day 05 - Wed: Lake Champlain - Gorham or Littleton This morning take a visit to Shelburne Museum, a 45 acre site including historic homes, a steamboat, and museum collections of American and Impressionist works. Day 06 - Thu: Gorham - White Mountains - Portland, (Maine) Travel today along the Kancamagus Scenic Byway, the spectacular route through New Hampshire's White Mountains, as it winds its way through verdant forests, old logging roads, and Native American hunting paths. This is one of the world's most celebrated and sought-after autumn leaves watching spots, but vestiges of the glorious spectrum of color are present year-round. This afternoon head to Portland, Maine, perched on a peninsula. The evening is at leisure to enjoy this waterfront town. Hotel: Fairfield Inn by Marriott
Day 07 - Fri: Portland, (Maine) - Portsmouth - Salem - Boston Depart Portland and make a stop in Kennebunkport. Continue to Portsmouth, the oldest community in New Hampshire, known for its thriving fishing community and historic buildings. Wind along the coast and make a stop at Cape Neddick's Lighthouse. Then travel to Salem, famous for its witchcraft trials of the 17th century. Return to Boston this afternoon by approximately 16:00 hours..
