Coromandel Regional Experience
Day 1: Auckland, Coromandel 
Discover the rugged Coromandel Peninsula, taking in 19th century pubs and exploring deep valleys along the way. Cross the peninsula to the east coast where pristine beaches and dramatic coastlines offer amazing views on the way to Mercury Bay andWhitianga. Take a fantastic ride on the unique old ‘Bush Railway’ through the forest. At the quaint town of Colville, enjoy a walk along the beach before crossing the main divide to Pauanui Beach, our home for the next three nights.

Day 2: Coromandel, Mercury Bay, Hot Water Beach
This morning enjoy a short walk that leads to a stunning sandy white beach where you can relax and view the pristine offshore islands. Then it’s onto Mercury Bay, named by Captain Cook after the planet Mercury. Discover Cook’s Beach, Hahei and Maori Pa (fort) sites and we’ll also stop at a hot water beach so you can see and feel boiling water and steam rise out of the sand. (B L)
Day 3: Coromandel, Glow worms and Beaches You have the whole day to discover the Coromandel Peninsula. Start the day with a walk through a beautiful regenerated Kauri forest full of towering fern trees, followed by a tour of an underground jail. Be enchanted by the light of a thousand glow worms in an old gold mine. After lunch, stroll down to a secluded beach to see rare birds then visit the Opoutere Bird Sanctuary, passing old Maid Middens. (B L)
Day 4:Martha Goldmine, Karangahake Gorge, Auckland South of Whangamata walk some of the finest coastline in New Zealand with views of Mayor Island and the Alderman Islands. Visit Martha Goldmine in Waihi, once the world’s richest goldmine. After lunch, stop at the ruins of the old Crown battery on the banks of the Ohinemuri River before taking a spectacular walk into a rock gorge with the river rushing below. Pass through Paeroa as you return to Auckland. (B L)
