Queensland Islands

Holidays and hotels on Queensland Islands, Australia
Introduction
When it comes to natural island getaways, Queensland has a well-deserved worldwide reputation. Choose from coral cay islands on the Great Barrier Reef, explore the world's largest sand islands, surf, walk along miles of rolling beaches or unwind at a remote hideaway.
Whether you're planning a day trip from Brisbane to Stradbroke or Moreton Islands or a few days at world heritage Fraser Island, nothing beats the feeling of sinking your toes into the powdery dunes of Queensland's sand islands.
The Whitsundays, an idyllic playground of 74 pristine islands dotting warm, truly blue waters. Here you can swim with marine life among coral, game fish, set sail, explore a rainforest, party hard, or snooze on white sand and just relax.
The Whitsundays describes the islands of the Queensland mainland coast from Mackay to Townsville. The climate is warm all year around, with an average temperature of 27.4 degrees Celsius (80 degrees Fahrenheit). The days are long and leisurely with an average of eight-and-a-half hours of sunlight to each day. Most of the islands in the Whitsundays are uninhabited and many are national parks. Seven islands hold resorts, of varying accommodation standards. You can explore the others by boat, either skippered or on your own.
The islands include spectacular Whitsunday Island, Whitehaven, with soft white sand, Daydream, Hook, Lindeman Island, Long Island, dreamy South Molle, Brampton and Hamilton Island with its five-star resort and scores of facilities and activities.
The pleasures of these tropical islands are many. Take a reef trip, dive, snorkel, swim, fish, take a satisfying, long trek in the lush, green rainforests, or admire coral through a glass-bottomed boat. From July to September, you can catch glimpses of humpback whales on their annual pilgrimage.
You'll know you've made it to paradise when the range of idyllic islands scattered off the coast of Tropical North Queensland is explored. Each island has its own personality, character and accommodation style .
